The Boxed Villa @ Queen

My chosen site is Queen and Euclid, and my Client’s activity is Cooking.

The client wanted to create a comfortable living/work place for a single individual, and also wanted to keep public and personal places on different level. As, the client wanted to provide the guests a terrace dining experience, I decided to keep the personal space on the ground floor and public on first floor.

The ground floor has a bedroom with a vast view of the surroundings and has washroom and closet space within. The living area located on the ground floor can be called both public/private space and the den at the back is a complete private space for the individual. As the kitchen and dining spaces were to be together, I decide to place them on the first floor.

To give the people a nice terrace dining experience, I created an open area on the first floor for the dining. And as the kitchen was a working space, it had to be a bit professional, that also required it to cover a large area for many people to work together.

As the individual enter the house, he experiences a grand and comfortable living room, where he can also place his guests. On further walking to den, I provided a comfortable entertainment/ relaxing area to my client where he can be himself and relax, outside the bedroom.As the client enters the bedroom he experiences a grand view of the outside surroundings, which also provide a lots of natural light and open view.

The bedroom is set to be a grand luxurious place for the individua, As the individual walks upstairs, he experiences a lot of natural light. The kitchen is really spacious and is made so that the guests can also work in the kitchen, the terrace dining provides the individual a relaxing experience of eating the meal, as the people can enjoy the view of the surroundings, natural light and also the environment.

I wanted my overall design to be composed as well as provide a sense of openness, so I decide to create elements like the panels around the house that it creates a sense of composure as well as provides an open surrounding to the individuals. The house tends to provide a comfortable as well as luxurious environment to the individual.
